The Conference on Urban Security will be held in Rijeka on March 26 and 27, 2019, and the main topics this year are smart cities, smart grids and the impact of technology on urban security. The program part of the conference is divided into two modules: local community safety and innovative technological solutions. When developing development strategies for smart cities, municipalities and counties, all applications that are planned to be introduced in the long term should be taken into account, and in order to optimize the investment, preference should be given to the introduction of integrated wireless communication solutions over individual ones. The high-quality and reliable city Wi-Fi network provides free internet access for all citizens and visitors and forms an excellent communication framework for the development of a smart city. The conference participants were introduced to Ruckus Networks Wi-Fi solutions already used by many smart cities around the world. In addition to enabling a reliable, high-performance wireless network, Ruckus Wi-Fi solutions also provide integration with IoT technologies. The Ruckus IoT portfolio was presented at the conference, which includes IoT-ready access points, a controller and Ruckus IoT modules that enable integration with various IoT communication technologies such as Zigbee, BLE, LoRa, etc. In addition, Ruckus Wi-Fi solutions meet all the technical requirements of the WiFi4EU program, which opens up additional possibilities for the city authorities to finance the city's Wi-Fi network. As a wireless communication solution for urban environments and smart cities, Siklu radio links have been introduced that enable multi-gigabit wireless connectivity. Due to their small size and weight, they are quick and easy to install on street lighting, such solutions are ideal for smart city projects that require additional capacity such as video surveillance, backhaul for establishing a public WiFi network in remote locations or implementing a complete city network.
